ATRS Partners with Energy Corridor for America Recycles Day e-Recycling Event
Everyday and everywhere, people are accumulating things that they either bought or were given to them. Many of those things are deemed useless after much use. So what do people do with those things? Often, unwanted stuff is simply thrown away. On November 17, 2012, American Textile Recycling Services (ATRS) partnered with Houston’s Energy Corridor, ConocoPhillips, BP, Phillips 66, and ExxonMobil Chemical to host e-Recycle Day in celebration of National America Recycles Day. Houston residents were encouraged to bring all of their unwanted clothing, shoes, toys, household items, glass, paper, and electronics to be responsibly recycled. Over 300 cars were counted as people came with bags of unwanted items. The day was a huge success with ATRS collecting close to 2,000 pounds of textiles to be recycled. Participants left the event knowing that their responsible recycling helped to ensure that significant amounts of waste were diverted from Houston landfills. Because of the great response to this year’s event, it is expected that many more will participate in 2013. ATRS is always excited to have an opportunity to help increase awareness about the benefits of textile recycling and helping to promote a greener tomorrow!
